NYFW may have come to a close, but the highly anticipated event was only the beginning of what many know as Fashion Month. Next on the roster comes London Fashion Week – which kicked off yesterday at a new venue for the style industry across the pond. After five years of showcasing collections at the beauty of Somerset House, London’s official show space is taking place in a more dynamic and urban atmosphere, playing directly into the theme of the first day: reinvention.
Whether they were going back to old ways or visiting new eras, designers definitely lived up to fashion’s expectations on the runway. For Jean-Pierre Braganza, a reinvention of cocktail hour was the focus of the collection. Models flaunted a fresh vision of occasion wear that displayed sleek silhouettes, graphic motifs and day-to-night separates that pushed the boundaries in a very unapologetic way.
Bora Asku on the other hand, took a moment to tone back from its usual runway presentation. The collection was themed around “The Golden Hour,” and instead of complex construction, frothy silhouettes and crazy embellishments, the brand presented more simplistic version of itself. Separates featured a soft pastel color palette, toned-down tulle and geometric formations that embodied the aura of prettiness.

Reinvention also showed its face on the Daks runway, yet this time around, in the era of the ‘60s. Plunge-neck gowns were rendered in graphic prints, and suede was tailored into midi-skirts, double-breasted coats and bomber jackets that were ironically ready to be worn off the catwalk and into the fall season.
It seem like LFW has opened up to a pretty perfect start. After all, a little change (whether old or new) never hurt anyone.
