It was just last year that we were reporting on C. Wonder’s not-so-surprising plunge within the fashion industry. After an effort to transition into a wholesale brand, the label – owned by ex-husband of Tory Burch – announced the closing of all its retail stores, along with filing for bankruptcy.

Well now it looks like the preppy retailer is on the bridge of getting a second chance. According to Fashionista, Xcel Brands announced its plan of entering into an agreement to acquire C. Wonder’s assets – which have been controlled by founder, Chris Burch, until now. The assets at stake include the brand’s property rights, trademarks and related designs that Burch bought up once the company went under at the top of the year.

If you’re wondering exactly how Xcel Brands plans to turn the failed company around (like us!), those details are still to be decided. But here’s what we do know: the brand management company was founded in 2011, and owns a range of popular fashion labels – one of them being Isaac Mizrahi.

Once the deal gets approved from the company’s board, there will be more information as to what we can expect from C. Wonder in the near future. As for now, click ahead for a few Isaac Mizrahi picks we wouldn’t mind snagging. Who knows, maybe there’ll be a collaboration in the works.
