If there’s one thing we can look forward to when attending a Baja East runway, it’s the brand’s traditional aesthetic of luxe cashmere and knitwear. But for fall, the designer duo – Scott Studenberg and John Targon – transformed its rebellious clan for what seemed liked an exotic evening event.
Models hit the catwalk flaunting printed, silk-like separates, relaxed knits, velvet tracksuits and more. But that’s not to say that the collection’s effortless vibes had anything to do with the mayhem beforehand: specifically, the show’s preparation.

Luckily, we were able to witness the craziness that comes prior to any runway show, as well as talk to the hair, nail and makeup masters that took part in creating the Baja East girl. Read on to find out how each beauty element played a vital role in the young brand’s final walk.
HAIR

On the inspiration behind the hair: “Basically each girl has her own unique character, with some of them fitting into little groups. We decided to continue from last season where the models were going to a very famous club in Germany. This season I imagined the girls continuing their party excursion in a more exotic location — you know, they’re looking for a sunny, clearing in the rainforest because the party is never ending.” – James Pecis of John Masters Organics
On the final decision of hair styles: “I think it’s all about character and having an identity. For some of the girls that resemble your typical norm core looks, we’re actually hiding their hair and using toppers – you know, adding pieces to the front for a Mohawk-inspired look. Other models have unique beach waves, ethnic braids, etc. The whole point is to add a little pizazz and make everything unique. I mean, hair is fun so we’re trying to have fun with it.” – James Pecis of John Masters Organics
On working with John Masters Organics: “I’m really a huge fan of John Masters Organics and what they do. I think people are starting to be way more aware of what they put on their skin and hair with all the chemicals around. It’s a big concern of myself and my family so I’m all for it.” – James Pecis of John Masters Organics
