It looks like Steve Madden has been hit with yet another lawsuit, this time by British creative, Stella McCartney. Earlier this week, the famed designer filed a complaint against Madden for re-producing a knockoff of one of her most “well-known and enormously popular” handbag styles: the Falabella.

McCartney claims that Steve Madden’s BTotally handbag (priced at $108), invades on the copyrights of her best selling Falabella fold-over design (priced at $1,195) that has been receiving popularity since its 2009 debut. According to Fashionista, “Madden began selling a “poorly-made,” but “virtually identical” knockoff bag that will likely “cause economic harm to consumers, given its shoddy quality.” And to make matters even worse, court documents also point out several poor reviews of the BTotally bag. Ouch!

But this isn’t the first time Steve Madden has dealt with legal issues behind their designs. In 2009 Balenciaga sued the footwear label in regards to its lego shoes, followed by a copyright claim issued by Sketchers over the label’s “Go Walk” sneakers.

If you ask us, the two styles look extremely similar, so we can understand McCartney’s frustration – but we’ll leave the big decisions in the hands of the courtroom.
